Brothers All,
Consolidated information from Br. Larry Powers, State Program Director, and Br. Roger Wysong, our Council Life Director:
Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy's announcement that he will retire has catapulted Roe v. Wade (the Supreme Court's landmark abortion case) into the news.

We are, once again, contracting with the City to operate Der Bier Garten and staff the gates at the annual Sierra Vista Oktoberfest on Friday and Saturday September 14 & 15, 2018. Full staffing requires between 18 and 24 people depending on the shift. This year we are asking you to simply sign up for a shift instead of both a shift and a location. Please folllow this link and take a look at the volunteer signup sheet.

The Order's new Online Membership initiative is live throughout the United States and Canada!

Now you can invite eligible Catholic men to take their first step toward committed, lifelong and council-based membership in the Order by signing up online. And, any member who recruits 5 members between now and Sept. 30 will receive a $50 gift card for KnightsGear, along with free shipping!

Men don't join the Knights of Columbus for the title, they join because they want to support their Church, community and their fellow Catholic men. To be worthy of the title 5 or 6 of the following statements should apply to you. If you don't measure up consider becoming more active.

Our hall is not available for event rental during the month of July. Our Bingo session will continue as usual every Wednesdqy and Sunday evening.

ScottySandbagsWe worked on projects at the hall on the six Saturdays from mid June thru July and accomplished a lot but still have more to tackle. Take a look at the following and let the President know if you'd like to take one on.

2018StateRaffleDonation2Worthy Grand Knight Jeff Herber presented a check to Kathy Calabrese of the Good Neighbor Alliance. The funds for the donation to GNA came from the Council's share of the proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets for a the annual Arizona State Knights of Columbus Charity Raffle.

Brothers All,
larrypowers 108x127Our State Council Program Chairman, Larry Powers, presented an overview of the new "Faith in Action" program on Thursday evening, July 19th at the Parish Hall of Our Lady of the Mountains. The program overview starts at 6:30pm. This is the NEW format and program for councils to use during the 2018-2019 fraternal year for our service programs to earn the Star Council award.
Vivat Jesus!

GoldenPlungerAwardSometimes a member has to go above (or below) and beyond the call of dooty and take personal initiative to slove a problem. At a recent Bingo session things got a little plugged up and Brother Dennis Macklin jumped right in (well not literally) and ensured that certain facilities were functioning. At our June business meeting we awarded him a token of our appreciation. We extend our thanks to all those members who see things that need to be done and just do them.
