web-vestments-thumbEach year, the Arizona Knights of Columbus recognizes a council in each of the six service areas of Family, Culture of Life, Church, Community, Council and Youth. The awards are presented at the State convention in May of each year. This year, Bishop Salpointe Council was recognized with the Council Service Area activities award.

Following is a summary of the narrative submitted to the State Council in the award application: "Brother Knights of Bishop Salpointe Council #4584 proudly attended the ordination Mass of Brother, Sir Knight, and then-Deacon Rob Neske. St. Francis of Assisi Assembly provided a Color Corps escort and Fr. Rob's wife was given flowers. The Mass, reception and dinner were attended by more than 10 priests from the vicariate and also our Arizona State Deputy. The reception and dinner were sponsored by Council #4584 at our home association facility, the Columbian Association Hall, in Sierra Vista. Also, a chalice was presented to Father Rob.

On Founders Day 2016, the birthdate of Venerable Fr. Michael McGivney, Mass vestments with the Knights of Columbus emblem were presented to our Chaplain, St. Andrew the Apostle Parish Pastor Greg Adolf and his associate, Parochial Vicar Fr. Marco Basulto Pitol. Appropriately assisting in the presentation were our Grand Knight and Deputy Grand Knight, our District Deputy and our Immediate Past State Deputy.

The BSC Knights are commended for their continual support to the works of the council, especially in support of their members, and most especially to the Priests and Deacons of our parish. These solemn occasions provided us with the opportunity to support our parish priest not only with material gifts but also with spiritual gifts of our prayers and a display of our core principles of charity, unity and fraternity."
