Img 3172Each year Brother Knights go to the Cochise County Fair and set up our Pro-Life booth. In 2016 Brother Knights also brought along St. Paul Street Evangelization brochures, miraculous medals and Rosaries and engaged interested booth visitors in conversation about the Catholic Church. Other St. Paul Street Evangelization efforts that are being supported by Brother Knights include public Rosaries, Apologetics meetings at the Columbian Hall and an evangelization course at the Parish conducted by a Brother Knight.

It was Mike's and Terry's first time out evangelizing. So Ed set them both up with bags with a smattering of Rosaries, Miraculous Medals, CD's and pamphlets to go out and spread the Gospel. We walked around the fair handing out Rosaries and got to speak to a number of people.
When we returned to the Pro-Life booth, one of the vendors had left, so we set up there. The booth next to us was a Baptist Church.

Ed noticed the T-Shirt of the lady sitting at the Baptist Church and said how much he liked it. It said, "Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life". The lady said, "Thank you, I like your shirt too". Ed's said the words of St. Patrick, "Christ within me, behind me, before me, beside me". Then she said, "why do you Catholics worship Mary?"

This is the most common objection to the vast teachings of the Catholic Church and Ed answered her, "We don't worship Mary. Worship is for God alone" To which she replied," But you pray to her on your rosary". Again Ed said, 'No, the Rosary is a meditative prayer on the Life of Christ. We pray 6 Lord's Prayers on it too. And the prayer we pray called the Hail Mary is directly from Scripture in the Gospel of Luke." She did not want to listen. She just muttered, "But you pray to Mary". Ed said, "It is the same as if you had a friend who needed prayer because they were sick. If that person asked you for prayer, would you say to him or her "Sorry, go ask God only to help you, I cannot help you"? Ed also told the lady that the Body of Christ is One. It cannot be divided. And the Scriptures say in Romans 8:38-39 "for I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus Our Lord."
I also told her that Mary, whom she has such disdain for, said "All generations shall call me blessed". We Catholics call her Blessed Mother. You Baptists don't do the Biblical thing." She responded, "Where does it say that in the Bible" I answered her, "In LUKE Chapter 1. It is called the Magnificat".

Terry joined Ed in speaking to them, and then another pastor showed up from that Church and he said, "Look, we are not here for debate" Ed said "She asked me why we worship Mary and I told her we don't." Ed asked them if they would like some literature to take home so they could see the real Catholic position on praying to Mary, but they said no thank you. So Ed and Terry left.

There was another lady named Bridget who had a booth with face painting and other things. She was a fallen away Catholic who got mad at a priest and left the church. Ed gave her many brochures as well as a Miraculous Medal to take home. Mike spoke with her for about 25 minutes about returning to the one true Church.

Overall, we handed out over 75 rosaries, about 75 Miraculous Medals, about 10 CD's and about 25 million dollars of Pope Francis.

It was a good day.
